The Impact of Technology on Society

Technological breakthroughs, inventions, and technical applications utilized inside communities to complete specific jobs have both benefited and hampered ancient and modern human civilizations. Technological advancements have become critical for civilizations to thrive and expand, but human cultures’ culture, values, and goals have influenced how technology has been created, benefited from, and impeded. Human societies/civilizations and their technology have become intertwined due to the fact that technical systems are developed by people and reflect the very core of a population’s needs and culture.

The cyclical nature of society and technology is one in which one aspect has a significant impact on the other, beginning with human societies and ending with the development of various technologies to meet society’s requirements. Those technologies alter how societies behave and work, which has an impact on the evolution of their economies, culminating in a cycle of increased demand for more technology. This co-dependent relationship of co-influence and co-production has existed from the beginning of time, resulting in the creation of two major types of synergistic interactions, depending on the type of society in question.

Agriculture Cycle:

Agricultural cultures were dependent on the seasons’ cycle, therefore social evolution would be agricultural and cyclical. Agricultural societies, their technologies, and their economies were all interwoven, since the technologies of a civilization assist in defining the economics of a society.

While also cyclical, the explosion of technology prior to and following the industrial revolution resulted in societies progressing in social progress (via technology) in ways that were not necessarily tied to agriculture, resulting in more diverse economies and the development of new societal novelties such as the interconnected world (e.g., the Internet) and globalization.

However, despite its numerous advantages, people are becoming increasingly concerned as the use of technology grows. Poor technological application has led to increased contamination of the environment, posing a severe threat to the lives and property of society’s citizens. It necessitates the intelligent and effective application of technology. People are up against the most difficult task of deciding the future: developing appropriate technology that makes our duties easier.

It’s becoming increasingly difficult to assess the influence that some modern technologies have had on our lives. The increased use of technology has had an effect on people, the environment, and society.

Positive impact

1. Mechanized Agriculture:

Agriculture has been automated to a considerable extent thanks to technological advancements. There are numerous current agricultural technologies that allow humans to grow huge amounts of food with less input and higher yields or ROI (return on investment) in a shorter length of time.

Small and medium-sized farmers acquire sowing, ploughing, watering, and harvesting machinery with the help of government incentives. The increased use of technology in agriculture has led to the production of genetically modified crops, which often grow quickly. They’re also immune to the majority of illnesses and animals.

2. Improvements in Transportation:

Transportation is the most basic technical activity. The innovative approaches developed as a result of technology help both business and society. People, as well as products and services, can go from one location to another via transportation. It is seen as a system that consists of a number of interconnected components. They all collaborate to achieve certain objectives.

Transportation takes into account a number of factors that aid in the movement of both commodities and people. Road transportation is the most frequently used kind of transportation because it allows goods and people to be moved quickly. Human mobility has also been enhanced.

3. Improvement in Communication:

Communication is used by everyone for a variety of reasons. For the goal of conveying information, both organizations and society are reliant on communication. Technology is used by people in order to communicate with one another.

The technique of exchanging ideas for the advancement of society has improved thanks to the electronic media. Most nations utilize television and radio to give society a voice, while mobile phones are used to conduct live community forums for improved participation. For the development and enhancement of customer service, small businesses have embraced mobile communication and the internet.

Negative Impact:

1. Resource Depletion:

More strain on the planet and its natural resources has been produced due to an increase in demand for the newest and most innovative technology. On a daily basis, a large number of computers and cell phones are produced.

The need for mobile phones and laptops is rising as our population grows. Manufacturers such as Samsung and Apple profit from rising demand, but to meet these needs in the long run, we must utilize our natural resources, especially aluminum. If the current epoch continues, our next generation will face a number of issues.

2. Increased Population:

Various health facilities have been enhanced as a result of the widespread use of technology by delivering health solutions that might have a direct or indirect influence on human lives. This has a beneficial impact on developed nations, but it has a negative impact on poor countries since they are unable to take advantage of the technology’s health-care benefits.

In industrialized countries, population growth is regulated by a variety of modern birth control technologies that allow for demographic balance in terms of natural resources and other opportunities. Developing nations, on the other hand, operate under a completely different paradigm.
